Alterations to shop layout in oscommerce

Alterations to shop layout. Oscommerce site is in the standard 3 column layout running version 2.2 with the an older version of STS template system installed. Search field is currently a small field at the bottom of the left column. This needs to be repositioned to within the header towards the right hand side and made wider to allow longer search terms to remain visible. Secondly, we would like the category links to be spaced out in their own boxes as a cascading menu, to make the categories more clearly defined. Finally, we would like to have the weight information of all the products removed. Any styling should be done in CSS.
