I am reading a voltage signal that has discrete events that occur over time. Included with this project is an example file with this data along with an Octave program to read in and display some of this data.
In the past I have stepped through this data by hand, found the events, recorded their position and then looked at the individual events to try and interpret the signal.
I'm looking for someone with some advanced discrete time based signal processing experience to help with a more scientific approach to working with this data. I'm interested to see if the events can be identified using wavelets.
I am hoping this can be done in Octave but am open to other software solutions.
Ideally I would be able to take a data file like included, run it through the analysis, and output a data set with the location of each event and possible some characterization about the event.
Theoretically the signal is built up of a "positive" and "negative" signal as sketched in the included file. Is is possible using wavelets to use functions of these shapes to do the transform?
