Design logo for Newspaper based upon current design

I need some help designing a logo for a new newspaper. The newspaper is for parents who have an interest in the education of their children and themselves. It will be a local newspaper with an interest in promoting the education of children – especially in the areas of science and engineering. I have a logo that I have attached that looks similar to the logo that I want. I would like the same lettering and orange color, but I think that the colors gray and black could help it to stand out and look more polished.
