As she made her way through the forest the darkness seemed to be thicker than usual. That night felt unusual, it felt different, it felt-
A sound came from the darkness, a rustling in the undergrowth, and the girl turned to see the shrubs swaying. The trees stood tall, their dark and rugged oak looked darker tonight, it looked older, more sinister even. The girl quickened her pace, she should have been home hours ago, but of course she'd tried to take a shortcut. As darkness had begun to envelop the forest she had searched desperately for the path home, but no matter where she turned she was met only by more of the unusually thick foliage which seemed to run rampant. And now, at what must have been far past midnight, a fog was beginning to form, covering the ground like a ghostly carpet.
HOWWWWWWWLLLLLL
The howl of a wolf echoed through the forest, bouncing from tree to tree until it seemed to be coming from everywhere at once. The girl let out a yelp, she'd always heard tales of The Wolf-Hood, a terrifying creature, half-man, half-wolf, all killer. She quickened her pace further, now in a full sprint through the forest, not even slowing as her dress tore on the brambles which littered the ground.
And all at once she was in a clearing. The full moon shone bright in the sky, bathing the ground in a ghostly light. The fog that engulfed the forest had turned to a deathly black, and it began to twist up the girl's body, constricting around her like a snake around its prey.
