Hello! I work for Microsoft and I do reports like this every week! I can create a dynamic pivot table for you that will be able to tally everyone up instantly. You'll be able to click a button and see the table change. For example, if you just want to see the Damage Control qualification, you can click on that and the whole table will be filtered to show you only the people who are qualified for that (or the reverse, all of the people who are NOT qualified). With conditional formatting, a second tab will show you a table of everyone along with the categories and a green check if they're qualified, a yellow exclamation if their qualification is about to expire (optional), or a red x if they're unqualified. And the best part is, that setting up the source tab as a special Excel table means that you can add as many people and/or categories as you'd like. All the pivot table does is summarize data, that means there's no fancy VBA code that will break down if you need to change things. If there's a new category you want to add, you just type it in and you'll see it in the table! It's all automatic and anyone can enter new data (ie: it doesn't have to be someone extremely proficient in Excel). I would suggest using some Data Validation (drop down menus to choose categories instead of typing them in - they're easy to set up and reduce data errors dramatically). That means adding NEW categories would take an extra step, but I could teach you how to do that very easily!
