We are a small publishing company and we have an Access database to track our orders and shipments. Our system is somewhat archaic and we want to fix what is broken and add new features. We prefer to fix what we have but are open to the idea of a completely new database design if that is the best way to go.
We need:
1) To fix a function tracking who has paid and who has not. This feature has somehow been rendered not usable
2) To provide some additional fields for email addresses
3) To increase search capability and be able to search by phone number or email address
4) To track royalties and produce a royalty statement. Some authors get a percentage of sales and we need automatically calculate this.
5) To have a feature to automatically track our book inventory as orders are placed
6) To call up as a report on all orders placed within a given time period
7) To integrate a more complete directory of our book titles into our access database
We are not sure if we also want the following done: we need to have orders pulled down from our website which is hosted by [login to view URL] and uses an MSQL database. We want them to be automatically entered into our Access Database. There seems to be some difficulty in remotely connecting to the MSQL database but we don't quite understand it all. The company that redesigns the database may also be chosen for this next assignment and in your proposal you could suggest a path but for now only bid on the basis of the first job.
