Editing and proof reading attend to the detail and are better done , after I've decided I am basically happy with what I said. It is the process of writing and re-writing, and editing to focus more on stylistic and grammatical points once I have an acceptable draft. And it is needed to articulate for myself why I need to change something, why I think it's not working the way it is, so that I know what's trying to achieve.
