What I need done
I need a solution for allowing certain users to customize a single ASP.NET page that is part of an existing web site. The only users who can alter the page are the owners of that page, the rest of the users can only see the page the way the owner has set it up, and have no ability to customize it.
The customization should include: adding WebParts to the page (note that users can only select pre-defined WebParts, they cannot upload their own), moving certain Web Parts (other WebParts, such as advertising blocks cannot be moved) altering background colors, images, font sizes and colors; editing content on the page (including the ability for the user to format that content). The customization should include a simple, easy to use in-browser design experience.
When applying a page design, the page owner should have the option of applying a pre-built design by selecting it from a gallery or creating their own as described above. In addition the user should be able to save a design they create and upload it to the site so it is usable by themselves and/or others.
What’s already there, what needs to be built
This is part of an existing web site, so the ASPX page that needs customization features added to it already exists. The page already makes use of UserControls, ASP.NET Themes and CSS.
I need someone to (a) figure out what’s the best way to support the customization scenario outlined above using a combination of WebParts, ASP.NET Themes, CSS etc… and (b) implement it.
Experience required
ASP.NET 2.0 (including features such as Themes, Profiles etc…), AJAX, CSS, Javascript and C# development experience, in particular building highly customizable pages. Agile development techniques. Ability to write top-notch, high-quality, best-practice ASP.NET, CSS, Javascript and C# code, including a full test suite that would withstand expert peer-review. The code must be easily integrated into an existing system.
## Deliverables
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):
a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.
b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
Delivery and Timeline
The project should be delivered as a set of source code and additional 3rd party libraries (if the use of 3rd party libraries is agreed upon). The code needs to be delivered as:
· A zipped-up Visual Studio 2005 solution in a specific layout so that it may be easily integrated with the existing codebase (solution layout details will be provided to the successful bidder). The solution must compile without errors or warnings, and run in the Buyers environment as-is. The Buyer will be responsible for integrating the provided this code with the main solution, the Provider will assist as necessary.
· Web pages and code: delivered as ASPX markup files with C# code-behind source files adhering to supplied coding standards (coding standards supplied to the successful bidder)
· Tests: comprehensive unit tests and web tests for all features are required, and should be delivered as Visual Studio 2005 Team Suite Unit tests and Web tests. All tests must execute successfully and pass.
The project will need to be built and delivered within 1 week.
Copyright and IP
All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete ownership and copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the Buyer).
