This 8- to 10-page paper gives you the opportunity to select and discuss at least five (5) key
concepts covered during this module. Topics can be selected from the list of course outcomes
articulated below, under course objectives.
After clearly summarizing the important aspects of each topic, discuss their relevance to you
personally and/or professionally. It is critical that the chosen concepts be supported experientially with real-world applications.
You should include relevant outside scholarly
research in your paper. When applicable, outside information used in the paper should be cited
and noted in a reference list. The paper should demonstrate and utilize higher levels of Bloom's
Taxonomy in its narrative. The paper should be 8 to 10 pages in length and follow APA guidelines
for format. The paper should have author citations where appropriate, followed by a reference list
formatted to APA style.
In this module (Individual in the Organization) the focus is on the individual, with primary
emphasis on intrapersonal and interpersonal processes. This module will address key concepts
and various theories regarding interpersonal relationships, human communication, personality,
human nature, conflict, and productivity. The basic question addressed is, “What does it mean to
be fully human?” The answer is at the heart of any theory of management. Often the question is
not directly addressed, but is an underlying assumption of a particular management theory. The
question is important enough to explicitly address the question in establishing a comprehensive
theory of management and organizational behavior.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
At the completion of the course, the you should be able to:
• Articulate the basic ideals of individual behavior
• Recognize the multiple dimensions of interpersonal communications
• Identify strengths and weaknesses of various interpersonal communication theories
• Demonstrate basic oral and written communication strategies
• Recognize the value of various dimensions of diversity in the workplace
• Apply techniques for overcoming communication barriers
• Articulate the basic tenants of organizational behavior
• Utilize communications strategies that will increase business and personal
communication effectiveness
• Recognize interpersonal conflict and apply methodologies for managing it
• Integrate “aspects of life” in ways that improve work and personal meaning and purpose
• Apply techniques for improving personal, oral, and written communication
• Articulate the basic characteristics of organizational culture
