Adult Interview / Reflection Paper For Adult Development And Aging

You will interview an adult who MUST BE of a different age group than you. You are to interview someone who is as different from you as possible (e.g. different gender, race, religion, ethnicity) as well as in a different age cohort. Create a series of at least 25 questions, as the basis for your interview. Include questions related to culture and traditions, questions re: life transitions, normative and non-normative events etc. You will get the richest data from questions that are more psychological in nature, i.e., questions which cannot be answered automatically but rather require the individual to stop and think at a deeper level. You must also have a signed consent form from the interviewee and turn it in as well. Once you have completed the interview, you will discuss what you learned about the person in the context of adult development theories and course content, with a discussion of diversity factors. You must submit the consent form, questions from the interview and an 8-10 page paper discussing what you learned about the person and the applicability of the course content to the individual interviewed. You must also include a discussion of one relevant research article or review from a professional journal related to adult developmental issues and to your interviewee.. Finally, include a discussion of how your own status in the adult development cycle may impact you in clinical work and what cautions you will need to take in working with adult clients at very different points in the adult life cycle, such as the subject of your interview.
