autocomplete mvc view needs to pull from database and validate

I have a form in a web application it is autocomputer and pulls from database. It is working great but people are inputing any numbers and then hitting submit. I need either validation it is pulling from database and does not submit if part number is not from database or rewrite it as jquery combobox where it does validate using on blur if the part is not in database and say no result found. I would prefer combobox but which ever is easier and lets the person know that is invalid part number.
