Here are five things that you shouldn’t go without as a freelance illustrator.
A client has given us 3 documents (one in HTML format, 2 in pdf) that we need to make regular use of. We need to convert them to clean Word .docx files or PDF files. For the most demanding one, a single page form, we might not be able to replicate the exact format in Word, so we could redo the form in InDesign to get a really clean PDF.
I want to see logo concepts for a beauty app that incorporates a DNA strand into the artwork. I want it to be elegant, clean lines and recognizable at smaller image sizes. I want the logo to be as gender-neutral as possible. The app is for both males and females, and i do not want to alienate either demographic. But I also DO NOT want artwork that displays gender symbols: ♂♀ (that's too obvious. I want an abstract logo) An early idea is to somehow make the DNA strand look like a hair strand is incorporated into it, or an eye, or eyelashes, etc. Use your creativity to come up with something that will stand out while remaining elegant, clean, and recognizable as a beauty app logo. Typography is not a part of this request. You can supply text saying "Name" if you think a particular font works well with the artwork, but it's not mandatory. The winner of this contest may get future branding work if their artwork is high quality.

- Design the inside pages of a book of approximately 152pp, in 5.5in x 8.5in size, and following the submission guidelines provided by Amazon (see "[url removed, login to view]" attached). - The manuscript is already paginated, and will be provided on agreement to proceed with the project. The pages just need to be laid out accordingly. - On each page or each spread, consider a way of including the hash tag #OTB, which is a key element of the book. Perhaps as a watermark or another visual element? - Front cover is already designed, and the working file will be shared with you so that you can prepare it together with the spine and back cover for complete submission of the whole book. The full book must be ready for submission by 30 November 2017. As such, it would be great to see a first draft of the full design by this Monday, 27 November 2017, in order to allow for time for proofreading and any last-minute amendments.
Smartlink is a new company and needs to get its message cross to end users. Smartlink has a gateway that connects electronic devices to a mobile app for home and business automation. It can be as basic as giving the user the ability to switch devices on and off, but can be expanded to include arming and disarming alarm systems remotely. It can also make use of logic to trigger events or to set up scheduling. EG at 18h00 all lights to turn on to 20% brightness. orif there is no movement for 5 mins - switch off the lights. It can also trigger video cameras to start recording when the alarm activates. Please see our website for more information. www.smartlinkafrica.co.za. We are looking for an infomercial that will explain this concept to the end user as simply and clearly as possible in one simple picture

Hello Freelancers! We are looking for a logo for our company and would like for it to look as professional as possible that can be used in a service catered industry. As such, a clean, modern, sleek, techie font and design should be implemented. Background: Sturvice is a student run start up organization that seeks to cater to the needs of students, particularly university students- offering them very specific, instantaneous services that they themselves highly value. We value technological prowess and top notch customer service. Keywords are services and students (hence the name, Sturvice). Requirements: 1) A blue colour scheme 2) logo should include an professional looking icon which can be used on the websites favicon, app GUI, and other variants of the logo. 3) “Stu” and “rvice” should ideally be clearly distinguished (Not necessarily by colour, we would like to see something creative). If you feel that it shouldn't be distinguished, we are open to other creative ideas as well. 4) Regarding fonts, we would ideally prefer simple premium block fonts (as do most tech and service related companies) or clean yet bubbly fonts (see attachments for examples). 5) Regarding the icon, we are looking for something clean yet simple. Remember, Sturvice is a service related company catering to students - so think "hands", "butlers", "people", or anything that is symbolic of top-notch service. I would like to further emphasize on the simplicity and professionalism that needs to be implemented in the logo. Attached are some examples of logos (and fonts) that we like and hope to receive from you all. If any other information is needed, feel free to send us a message. Good luck to all!
To move articles (car tests) from InDesign to a (proprietary) web publishing system. We are in a project to move material from our Desktop Publishing System (InDesign) to dynamic webpages in our (proprietary) content management system. We would like to move material from 2011 up until today, and we are talking about 26 issues a year. Every single article can be as short as one (1) page and up to 16 pages. The articles are in Swedish language and the content is test reviews of cars. Since the articles follows ”normal magazine standards” we do not think there will be any problems understanding the structure (what is headline, and so on). We will distribute every single article as one package. Each package contains of the InDesign document, all the pictures in magazine resolution (high), and also a PDF document so you have the opportunity to get an overview of the article in actual form and outlook from the print magazine. Your assignment will be to copy all the text in inDesign and paste in the right fields (headline, preamble, body text, captions and so on) in the web publishing system. In our web publishing system you start with creating a ”new article”. Our web system is a modular system with preset templates for this assignment. In the modular article page you will find fields for ”headline”, ”preamble”, ”body text” and so on”. So you just copy the desired part of the magazine article (for example the headline) and then paste it into the field for ”headline”. The system is written in English. There are always one or more picture(s) in the articles. Since the pictures in InDesign document are in low resolution you have to find the corresponding picture in the picture folder included in the package. Our web publishing system will only accept up to 3600 pixels in width, so there will be some picture editing (i.e. resizing) made by you in optional picture editing application before uploading to the web publishing system article. After editing the picture will be uploaded in the article you just created. Uploading of pictures is done in the same way via standard ”upload” button as common in web pages. In case there are a table in the magazine you have to do a screenshot, and then publish the screenshot as a picture in the web publishing system. That’s because its very awkward to copy and paste tables from magazine to web with a good result. What you need: InDesign CC2015 or later. A fast web connection for receiving packages. What you will get: A personal account and a guided introduction (with pictures) to our web publishing system (all in English language). How to create a new article, how to upload pictures, how to complete the article with more modules (if needed) and so on. Test and delivery If you find this assignment interesting, please contact us. We will provide you with one ”test package” and all the instructions and credentials needed. We will do so for the best of the two of us. After you have delivered the test package to our publishing system, we will take a decision regarding a contract. Quantity This is a big order. We have estimated the job to approximately 1100 articles and somewhere around 1.200 hours. We also have a tight deadline to finish this, so we will not leave the commission to one single person. You will be one in a group of contributors. We will review all the applicants in the last days of November 2017.
