Working in the Energy Space for a local company in Lower Fairfield County, this is a 3-4 month project. 60% of the responsibilities will be with Sales Tax and Use Tax returns and 40% Income Tax. The position will work with tax compliance, tax accounting, research and other relevant ad-hoc activities. The position will be part of a small Tax team and will assist the broader Finance team and stakeholders. Responsibilities: -Provide support with the preparation of Sales and Use Tax returns. -Collect and maintain Sales Tax exemption certificates. -Assist with the preparation of Property Tax returns. -Assist with Sales and Income Tax audits and correspondence. -Respond to notices from various tax authorities. -Assist with providing information to the outside tax return preparer for Federal, State and local Income Tax returns. -Calculate and file quarterly estimated tax payments and extension payments. -Maintain the tax calendar -Provide support with the preparation of quarterly and year-end tax provisions. -Maintain, update, and reconcile current and deferred tax accounts. -Assist in researching technical tax matters. -Provide practical, solution-focused responses to issues. -Take initiatives on process improvement. -Work collaboratively with internal employees and external individuals on various projects. I require a skilled Tax Agent that (certified CPA) that has Qualifications in assessment and documenting individual tax returns including a rental property. Must have knowledge of: Xero Property depreciation Investment property income returns and deductions available Prime cost (straight-line method) and diminishing value methods. Access to third party if required (e.g. Quantity surveying firm, of which I can pay additional) Must be an expert in depreciation / investment property claim. Provide a report (Xero) 5. Meet again - walk through Xero and you provide advice / review transactions and detail with me 6. Prepare tax return for FY17 7. Provide me the draft FY17 return for submission 8. I will sign off and submit (only then will the final milestone be released.) 9. I have a problem with my Paypal account in Quickbooks Online. I paid $60 for a software in January but now received a refund because it didn't work. QB found this new transaction (the refund) and I clicked the "match" button (-60 + 60 = 0). In my Paypal account, I now had $60 and made a payment for $29. So in Paypal I now have $31 but "in quickbooks" it shows as -$29 (0-29=-29). Somehow the $60 are missing. If you feel confident you can fix this or know what happened, please apply and state how long it will take to fix this. I expect this to be a simple thing that should take less than 1 hour. I'm new to quickbooks, so problems like this may happen frequently and I don't have an accountant yet. If you are easy to work with and able to fix this problem quickly, I'd be happy to give you more work in the future.
