Contest Brief

I am a psychologist looking for a business card that depicts transformation and discovering unknown resources within. Current Slogan: "There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it's going to be a butterfly" (RB Fuller).

I have included my current picture, but I am open to new designs. This can be modified or replaced. I would like the card to reflect parts of my personality which can be a mix of intellectual and serious, and/ or dry sense of humour. I really enjoy clever and/ or surprising things that make my brain spark. By nature I am optimistic and upbeat, but can be dreamy and spaced out.

I like various art forms, such as dreamy sumi-e, clean minimalist, inner workings of sacred geometry, ethereal x-ray photography, black and white simplicity, clever negative space, beautiful art deco & art nuveau, moody romanticism, ...

I prefer earthy colours to bright colours. Favourites are green and blue.
Please include the following information somewhere on the business card:
Francoise Kubierske
MA (Psych) (UJ)
Counseling Psychologist
PS 0107425
Tel (011) 3952460
19 Mockingbird Road
Atlasville

I would like the logo/ design to be available for letter heads and email signature too.

Employer Feedback

“Fernando really took the time to understand the brief and bring various elements together. He designed a business card that looks professional and elegant. Fernando was patient and willing to try different ideas, with no request being too much effort. Furthermore, he is knowledgeable about design, both on the computer and in practice. He was able to bring my ideas to life. I can present my cards with pride. Thank you Fernando. It was a pleasure to do business with you. ”

Hi. Your brief was very helpful. I'd still like to discuss more though. Let's focus on logo first. Then we'll move onto stationary. So drop a message when you got time. Thanks.

Hi, thanks for your submission and quick response. I feel that the interpretation of transformation does not have to be so literal. So, for example, an empty cocoon or an emerging butterfly would be sufficient to bring the idea across. Or, like with x-rays or sacred geometry, you get a sense that you are trying to peer into what makes a butterfly. There is a mysteriousness or wonder about the process that perhaps gets lost in the literal step-by-step illustration. I think I would also prefer a less generic feel that is present in the colour scheme and blue line across the bottom. Thanks for risking it and being the first submission. It is difficult when you cannot meet your customer in person to get the feel of them and you have to guess.

Agreed. The Cocoon to butterfly concept is nice. but the personality traits you described give a sense of masculinity. and cocoon to butterfly would be more feminine thing, signifying growth, protection, green. So which way you want to go. Put your persona first or Branding based on transformation.

Hi, thanks again for the effort. The submission is missing the gist of what I am aiming for, and does not seem to meet the original brief or description below. I want to capture the magic and mystery of the transformation that happens, or a clever interpretation of that. Earthy colours or black/ white/ grey. Less generic please.
