Contest Brief

I'd like to have the best interior design for a fast food outlet. I like it to be unique with the use of Mirrors, Wallpaper, Bright Wood look, Authentic and charming.

The restaurant will be a Chicken & Rice single meal concept. The chicken and rice will be cooked in 5 to 6 electrical cookers. The design should accommodate for this by providing space for a chiller fridge (for chilled chicken), large sink, largest possible surfaces for preparation and seasoning, under-counter storage, and as much shelves and cabinets as possible.

The concept will adopt a self-service system where customers need to pay in advance and collect their meals from service counter. The place is tiny, so, a good design should optimize layout for maximum number of dining chairs.

The Ground Floor of the small outlet will have a relatively small hidden preparation and cooking area starting from the back wall upto 3m with width of the entire wall area. Service and Cashier Area is separated from Cooking Area with a nice wall with a door (Design of this wall is important on overall theme as it will be the most visible of the restaurant, so do your best here). Remaining part of the Ground floor will be allocated for dining (Tables for 2 & 4..etc customers)
Mezzanine Floor will have the bigger Dining Area with minimum visibility from outside and limited view due to the high position of the windows. So, we need some creativity in making the space as charming as possible by using latest design tools to overcome this downside and turn it into an advantage so customers can enjoy their short food experience.
Remarks:
- Electrical Cookers will be used. Please see attached file for images and dimensions (Electrical Cooker Sizes).
- Ex-tenant has changed spiral design of stairs (Check Pictures).
- The use of light wood colors (preferably trendy colors away from Brown) and bricks is prefered.
- Allow maximum possible Kitchen Area for: 2 Fridges (1mx1.5mx2m), Large Sink, Preparation surfaces, Storage Shelves and under-counter equipments (warmers, mini fridges, storage...etc)
- All materials must be listed and not difficult to procure.
- 1 Male & 1 Female WC on Mezzanine Floor.
- Concept will be offering one meal only, chicken and rice.
- All proposals should be supported with clear life-like images illustrating the design on the outlet as per the layout and information provided.
All proposals should include the word 'Blended' on top to exclude automatically generated contestants.

Yes, I see the stairs of course but how much room do they take up in this small space? What are measurements that relate to the total space. They seem to take up a lot of space which relates to seating, washrooms, kitchen, wall decor. I notice on the drawing that the front door shows up in a corner yet the photos show a center door. All this must be measured and given to the designer to carry out. I also notice that the mezzanine does not reach the front and the railing has not been installed. What is that measurement? I hope you understand that a pretty picture will not build your restaurant correctly.

I understand your concept which does relate to the layout. For instance, "WHERE ARE THE STAIRS LOCATED". This is most important for the space they take up can not be used of course. From the plans you sent, they do not show. I am sure whatever sketches you receive, you could not possibly build your washrooms or kitchen unless they have your plans which do not show up on my computer. Sorry about my constant requests but I am a restaurant designer and know what it takes to workup a plan. Good luck....ronaaron2

  Noted with thanks... Couldn't you see the stairs on the images attached? I've provided many photos that show you everything currently on the outlet. One more thing, please note that I'm taking this space which used to be a fitted burger joint. All stairs and WC's are already there and we just need to work with the current fittings. Please refer to the attached images. Hope you can see all of them.

I appreciate your comment about current fittings but there are several elements that baffle me. this space is so "tight" that it requires unique creativity. The photos are not as important as accurate measurements of the existing raw space and all the unique elements such as staircases and their exact size and location for both levels. If you wish a truly careful and creative design, working measurements of the existing interior will be needed otherwise what you will get is not workable......ronaaron2

  Thanks Ronald. I appreciate your approach to your work. My concept is relatively simple and won't be involving a lot of functional and operational requirements. Simply we marinate and season the chicken with the rice in the kitchen, put them in electrical cookers, and it's self-service. So, not much complexity in the design for such operation. Your photos are totally different than the plans you show. As stated before, have someone rough draw all the walls and stairs and unique details of the space and send that thru as a JPG drawing. Use ink for all measurements for an easy read. I would love to create your space but I don't know where anything is. ronaaron2

  Hi Ronald. Thank you for comments and inputs. I've provided the floor plan with all measurements and the photos to help you visualize the space. You don't have to build your design on any current fittings though except the staircase, which was changed from spiral as shown in the photos. What is exactly you require from me before you do the design. If you think that is not enough, then I welcome any guidance from you on how to proceed with this project in addition to what you have kindly provided on the entries.

I am sorry to say that the photos and the plans do not match what one needs to design your space in the way you wish. Frankly, a hand drawn sketch of all the unique details and crazy things that show on the photos must be done for a designer to create a great looking space. All dimensions and notes must be given.
