Contest Brief

CARTOON COCKATOO FOR CHILDRENS BOOK ( see drawing for general appearance reference) Bird is very smart and has an intelligent but joking personality (I would equate to Sheldon from a popular American sitcom tv show) I welcome your artistic vision in helping to create this character that will be brought to life in a children's book series that involves several consistent characters and other intermittent characters involved in various adventures. Ultimately the winner of this contest will also be given first refusal to bid on creating a minimum of 7 other characters and in creating multiple action illustrations to be used in first volume. I am hoping to find the right person for this job and to create a good artistic professional relationship that can grow and last through future volumes. IF you are unsure that you could commit to future projects regarding this please do not enter. PLEASE remember...this if for a children's book (target age group 6-10 yrs. old) Bird MUST have an overall friendly appearance. Feel free to add a little color but in moderation.

    A BIG THANK YOU to all of you who have submitted an entry. All of you are very talented artists. Unfortunately, given my time constraints on this project, I was not afforded adequate time to work with you to any real extent beyond your submission. I have to go with initial submissions as to what is closest to my current needs for this project. I will officially declare a winner in the next few days and I have retained contact info for all that have submitted an entry for future use. My plan, as stated, is to work closely with the winner and to build a long term working relationship. Sometimes a little extra creativity may be needed and sometimes people have circumstances that may not enable them to fulfill expectations to the fullest. So I may need some additional creativity in the future and will keep all of you in mind. Thank You again and good luck to all of you with future endeavors.

    It is difficult for me to advise much on the artistry as I am not so much of an illustrative artist. All I can suggest is "soft lines, friendly for kids to look at, an energetic and happy appearance, smart but fun, a splash of color but not too much". To me...it is like car shopping...I see one or two that catch my eye quickly then I look at the finer details and decide what fit my needs and what I could customize in the future.

      easy to say that. If you read the description this is only one of many many illustrations I will need for this project. I will have to pay for each of those as well. Whoever wins this and sticks with my project will ultimately make considerably more in the very near future.
