Contest Brief

1. Objective:
Develop a striking logo and business card for new innovation and branding agency Colida.

2. About Colida
Colida is an Innovation & Branding agency specializing in Design thinking, Product design, Brand development & positioning. Inspired by the idea of the ‘Slow hunch’ as coined by Steven Johnson (see video “Where good ideas come from”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NugRZGDbPFU), and that the best ideas come from the ‘collision of half ideas’, the folk at Colida acknowledge that magic happens when we put our heads together to collaborate, share and build. What we can achieve together is far greater than anything we can create on our own: 1 + 1 really does equal 100.

To arrive at great ideas, Colida is a highly collaborative, creative and playful agency that challenges the status quo and thinks laterally. Determined to create products that answer true consumer insights, Colida is also highly curious and experimental.

3. Target market
Small to medium businesses needing help with their innovation and marketing strategy. Clients may fall within any industry.

4. Tasks:
a) Develop a logo for the Colida brand to feature on a website, business card, and consumer products. It must represent the brand personality and values above, and stand out from the crowd.

b) Develop a business card for the Colida brand featuring the following information:
a. Owner’s name
b. Owner’s title
c. Owner’s email and contact number

5. Logo Inspiration
• The ‘Heckler’ font talks to both quality and creativity.
• ‘Nymbl’ is corporate and clear, yet still playful.
• The Colida logo should draw inspiration from each of these logos- perhaps falling somewhere in between.
• It should be strong and tight (like Nymbl), with playful influences (as per Heckler).
• However please avoid lettering as intricate as Heckler, as the Colida logo needs to be readable when applied to product labelling (ie when reduced to only 2cm in length).

6. Feelings to convey
• We want clients to feel confident, upbeat & inspired when they see the Colida logo and business card.

7. Colours and fonts
• As a brand that represents creativity, imagination and insight, we believe Purple is the right colour for this brand (see appendix in attachment).
• We think PMS ‘VIOLET 2X’ is a good fit as it is vibrant (similar to ‘Nymbl’ brand colour), however we are open to the designer’s recommendations.

8. Mandatories

Logo:
o Provide final logo in all formats
o Also provide logo in black and white options (for use superimposed on images etc)

Business Card:
o One colour PMS print
o 5cm x 9cm size
o Front: Purple background, white brand logo
o Back: White background, name/phone number in Purple font
